Hybrid Events - Department of Tourism – Region III

For the Flavours of Pampanga: The Filipino Culinary Heritage (2020) was a hybrid culinary and cultural showcase organized as a culminating activity in celebration of Filipino Food Month and National Heritage Month on 22 May 2021. Led by the Department of Tourism – Region III, the project was designed to promote Filipino gastronomy, cultural identity, and regional tourism through the presentation of authentic culinary traditions from Central Luzon, with particular focus on Pampanga’s renowned food heritage. The event highlighted the richness and diversity of Filipino food culture by featuring heirloom recipes, traditional cooking methods, and contemporary interpretations of Kapampangan cuisine. Through a hybrid format that combined a limited in-person program with digital participation and live streaming components, the project ensured wider audience reach and stakeholder engagement while adhering to public health and safety protocols during the pandemic. Beyond culinary demonstrations and storytelling, the initiative aimed to strengthen appreciation for food as an integral element of cultural heritage and destination development. By showcasing Pampanga’s thriving culinary gems and the broader gastronomic traditions of Central Luzon, the project contributed to sustaining tourism interest, supporting local food practitioners and enterprises, and reinforcing the Philippines’ positioning as a vibrant culinary destination. The activity served as a strategic platform for cultural promotion, tourism recovery, and community engagement, underscoring the role of gastronomy in preserving heritage, stimulating local economies, and enhancing destination competitiveness.
